Weekends O’ Adventure

Cedar Point

A few weekends ago, I had the fortune to be able to spend time with my sister and mutual friends for her bachelorette party. The day started early, but we were able to go to the park and ride the roller coasters before getting ready to hit the town. We played some games, had some drinks, and ended up being the life of the party in one of the only bars in town.

If you are looking to go to some bars, just a heads up, don’t go in Cedar Point, and definitely don’t go on a Saturday because apparently that is the slowest day for bars there. But, the important aspect of this story, and of this weekend, was that we were able to spend time together and we made the most of it. I was thankful that I was able to celebrate this event with my sister, who happens to be my best friend.

Of course, we drank too much, so the water park on Sunday was a rough morning, but we now have stories to share. The water was cool, and the sun was warm, leaving us happy and tired when the journey ended. The timing of this was perfect because I was able to spend one of my last weekends home with celebrating my sister with our friends. I was sad for the weekend to end, but happy that I had made these memories.

Muskegon

This past weekend, I travelled westward to spend some of my last days in Michigan with my aunt and uncle. We watched a few really good movies, explored a couple lakes, including Lake Michigan, took a ride on a pontoon boat, went for some walks, and watched a thunderstorm.

These days were important to me because I consider my aunt and uncle to be my second set of parents, and I needed to make the time for them because I don’t see them nearly as often as I would like. Living across the state can have that affect, and a weekend trip before leaving for South Korea was called for.

I was always taught that family is important, and sometimes it’s hard to remember to take the time out of our busy schedules. While it is nice to have people to share memories with, we also need the time to keep making new memories with them.

Losing my dad made me appreciate the time that I still have. It also made me realize that I don’t spend as much time as I would like with my family, but especially my aunt and uncle. My dad was a person who always made time for other people, no matter what was going on in his life, and I intend to emanate that moral through the rest of my life because I wish every day that I had more memories and time with him.

We spent these few days relaxing, exploring nature, eating good food, and just appreciating the time we had together. My aunt and I made gluten free cinnamon raisin bread (which was absolutely delicious, by the way), we shared memories of my dad, and drank many cups of tea. It was absolutely what I needed before continuing my journey across the world.

Thanks as always for reading, and the next time we meet, I will be in South Korea! Stay safe and stay happy.
