In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that my resolution for February was to read more. I followed that with a post stating that my resolution had gone well, but did not specify how much, or what I ended up reading during the month. This post is to share that and satisfy your curiosity.
In total, I read 4 books in February. I also traveled at the beginning of the month, so I had a little bit more free time to read during my flights. I thought I would share what I read and what I thought about each book. (I did steal this idea from a friend of mine.)
If you have watched the movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix, this is the third novel of Han’s trilogy. These are young adult novels, but share a lot of what it’s like to be a person transitioning into different stages of life. Personally, I can relate to that because I have transitioned into multiple stages of my life in the past few years. So I would recommend this book as it has meaning and is a relatively fast read.
I read this book for free because I am an Amazon Prime member, and it turned out to be a pretty decent read. It was another quick read as well. This fiction novel was more about self realizations and following your dreams before it’s too late. Once again, this theme resonated within me because of the transition period I am currently in. So yes, I would recommend this book if you would like a little inspiration to achieve your dreams.
I read this as part of my book club, and I thoroughly enjoyed this month’s pick. For some reasons the books I end up picking for the club turn out to be duds, but at least my friends have good taste. This is another young adult novel based in England that explores the pressures of high school students trying to enter university and find a path for themselves. It also brings up the topic of different sexualities and ways to express gender that I personally think is important for people to read about. This was probably the best book I read this month.
I started this book multiple years ago, and even though I wrote down on what page I had left off, I had to start from the beginning anyway because I had forgotten what happened. But, I am glad I was able to finish it finally! This is a spin off from Gabaldon’s Outlander series, which I also read. I am also currently watching the show on Netflix, so it’s interesting to see what I can remember, which is not much. This is a historical fiction novel, but more of a mystery, which was a nice change for me. I plan on reading the rest of the novels in this series, because I enjoy Gabaldon’s writing and Lord John as a character. I would recommend both this series and The Outlander series.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you end up reading any of these and what you think. Here’s to hoping I can keep up the momentum of reading.
