April’s Check-In

If you read my April resolution post, you will know that the challenge I chose for myself involved minimalism. For each day of April, I got rid of items that equaled the date. So in total, I was supposed to have gotten rid of 465 items.

This doesn’t mean that I threw everything away. That would be a waste, and bad for the environment. Instead, I gave things to friends who would use them more than me, donated clothes, and turned items in to companies who would reuse them. Of course, there were things I did throw away that couldn’t be reused.

Here’s a condensed list of things I got rid of:

  • Clothes – 68
  • Beauty items (makeup, etc.) – 61
  • Accessories (for hair, clothes, jewelry, etc.) – 15
  • Office (old papers, envelopes, folders, etc.) – 43
  • Home (decorations, etc.) – 15

I also have a lot of books that are to be donated, which I can’t do until the local bookstores are open again. That number came out to 76. I suppose it’s good that the biggest number is also what would be the heaviest whenever I move.

In total, my number came to 277. While I didn’t make it to 465, I still managed to get rid of a lot, even considering I essentially did the same thing soon after I came back home from Korea. I think it will be a while until I am able to go through my possessions again to get rid of a lot of things I no longer use.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully this inspires you to do some of your own minimalism challenges! If you want more information of where I donated things, and what sites I used, just comment below!
