Click here to read my mini resolution for May. I was successful in that I did not eat snacks or dessert after dinner. Although the result was not that I lost any weight, I do feel better about myself now. I am sure a lot of people feel this way, but if I eat dessert or a snack after dinner, a lot of times it’s not because I am hungry. Most of the time I eat because I am bored and have free time. After I eat, I feel overly full and then guilt myself into feeling bad. So in a way, this resolution helped me create a healthier habit and to change the negative thoughts I was having about myself.
I found that in this determination, in order to keep my mind occupied, when I thought about snacking on something because I was bored, I would go for a walk or bike ride instead. This killed two birds with one stone! I wasn’t eating when I wasn’t hungry, and I was creating another healthier habit.
Of course, I still allowed myself to eat a snack or have dessert once a week, as a treat, but at any other time, I found it quite easy to stop snacking. All in all, I determine that this exercise was a success, and I believe I will continue with it!
A few tricks to help me from snacking: If it was late at night and I got a little hungry, I would just go to sleep instead. Or, I would brush my teeth. For some reason, brushing my teeth stops me from snacking.
Thanks for reading! If you decide to do this challenge, hopefully my experience will help you. Good luck!
