Buses, and trains, and subways, oh my.

Before we talk about specific places, let’s discuss transportation. In almost every major city, you can get around easily using public transportation. Typically, you can also just use a credit card that has the tap to pay feature to pay the fare (although there are a few exceptions).

Before traveling somewhere, I usually just google the city and public transportation, and it’s pretty easy to find out how accessible it is and how the fare works. Once you are in the city, to know what transit to use to get to your destinations is also pretty simple. I just use google maps and select the transit option. The directions are always accurate and easy to follow.

And once you get the hang of using public transportation in major cities, the maps become pretty simple to read to help you get around. Actually, figuring out public transit is easier to me than highway directions that are given to me for driving somewhere.

At the very least, there is usually someone who can answer questions if you find yourself lost in a city (bus driver, station staff member, etc). One tip from me – screenshot your subway directions before you enter the tunnel to your platform, because you will probably lose service.

Thanks for reading! Stay safe and stay happy. And happy traveling!
