Another Week Has Passed, and 가을 (Fall) is Here!

This past week was busy and tiring, but there was still time to have fun and experience new things. I have been picking up some overtime at work as we are heading toward the end of the semester while also preparing for our winter camp. I know I will be sad to say goodbye to my first students here, but I am looking forward to the following semesters.

On Friday, I went out to dinner with a new friend and her sister, which was exciting. We had curry for dinner and then went to a coffee shop after to talk. Along with work, I am finally finding a groove of socializing on the weekends, and I am learning that it isn’t as scary as I thought to make new friends in a different country. It just takes some time. I am sad that my friend is moving to New Zealand in December, but maybe going to visit her will be another adventure that I have.

Saturday began with chores and chatting with my family and friends back home. I also went for my first jog since coming to Korea. I am ashamed to say that I am completely out of shape now, but the view along the river was beautiful. The weather here is much warmer than back in Michigan. It was 69 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday, so I don’t think I will have an issue with winter being too cold for me.

Saturday night was spent at a bar called the Sound Garden where there was an open mic event hosted by the foreigner community here in 진주 (Jinju). It was a lot of fun listening to live music and creative pieces and also meeting new people. Afterward, a group of us went to a 노레방, which is a karaoke room. We sang for about 3 hours, so needless to say I woke up this morning with no voice whatsoever. I absolutely love 노래방들 in Korea. If you ever get a chance to visit, make sure to put that on your list.

Here are some pictures of food that I ate and coffee that I drank this week. I will try to remember to take more pictures in the future!

That’s all I have for this week. I will do my best to keep you all updated on life events. In the mean time, stay safe and stay 행복해요 (happy)!
