Happy (Belated) Wedding Day, to my Sister.

I realize that I promised almost two months ago that I would post an update about my sister’s wedding when I went back to the states in October. I am sure you have all been sitting on your hands in anticipation, so here we go!

Thursday evening was the rehearsal at the church, where my family dressed up as hillbillies. It is a tradition in our family to dress up in some way for wedding rehearsals, and my dad participated in a few himself. There was even a song written in honor of James, my brother-in-law.

The rehearsal was followed by dinner at an Italian restaurant. They had gluten free noodles, which I was extremely excited for because gluten free noodles are nowhere to be found in grocery stores in Korea.

Friday morning we woke up bright and early. I was still on Korean time, so I was awake much earlier than most. The bridesmaids and the bride had their hair and makeup done in my mom’s kitchen, while feasting on a breakfast casserole, fruit, cinnamon rolls, and apple cider mimosas.

The next destination was the church, where we got dressed. The ceremony arrived, which all of the bridesmaids were nervous for, and it was over before we knew it. The limo ride to the reception hall was interesting. The radio didn’t work, and our driver was asking us for directions, but we arrived in one piece and still had a great time.

The reception was a blur, but a blast. The food was great, and the music was spot on. I danced all night and socialized enough to last a lifetime. I was also told on multiple occasions to stop talking and eat, and if you know me, that is a sentence that has never been said to me before.

All in all, there were some tears, both happy and sad, but it was a wonderful way to celebrate with friends and family. My sister is my best friend, and I was glad that I was able to come home for a few short days to be a part of this milestone with her.

I will try to update more often! Stay safe and stay happy! See you next time.
